Skyrim’s not had an easy time on PS3 but one thing’s carved in stone by dragon talons: we’re getting Skyrim DLC. A recent announcement stated “Bethesda has been hard at work on creating the first set of add-ons. Bethesda’s VP of PR Pete Hines has just tweeted that Skyrim’s PS3 1.5 update will be out “this afternoon”. It includes new kill cams and a range of fixes.

The main thing you’ll get from Skyrim’s new 1.5 update is a range of new kill cams and animations. There’s everything from wrestling moves to swords thrust into soft places. The new cams also cover archery and magic. Basically killing people just got a lot more fun to watch. There’s also a range of fixes for various knackered missions. Skyrim PS3 review after the patch

Skyrim director Todd Howard has admitted developers working on the game were aware of a “bad memory situation” with the PS3 version. He also says that the issues that plagued the game on PlayStation and lead to a disappointing PS3 Skyrim review were nothing to do with the large size of the save files.

That’s the 1.4 million dollar question. The PS3 Skyrim lag debacle has been spindling a web of framerate-related sadness like a giant,  unruly Frostbite Spider since the game’s release in November. Now, though, it looks like Lagzilla might finally have been put out of its misery, thanks to the new Skyrim 1.4 PS3 patch. Well, ‘might’.
