Konami always said that PES 2014 was only going to be PS3, now it’s been confirmed by the publisher in a tweet stating the current-gen footy game, “will not be released on next-gen consoles but you can expect to see PES 2015 on your PS4″.

Konami’s just released a new data pack for PES 2014 which adds over 800 player likenesses to the game, including Real Madrid’s Isco, Juan Roman Riquelme’s ferocious eyebrows, and Jack Wilshere’s eminently slappable countenance. In addition to that, the MyPES app has just launched for iOS and Android devices, which gives you heaps of stats to pore over and makes community management possible while on the go.

Konami’s foot-to-ball sim didn’t quite have the chops to beat FIFA 14 this year, but PES 2014 is nevertheless a great game in its own right. Good news, then: it’s going to get incrementally better quite soon, for free. An upcoming data pack updates rosters the world over, adds over 800 player likenesses and a whole bunch of third kits. Last but not least, 11v11 multiplayer is now a reality. Just think about that.

Speaking to OPM UK in a group interview at E3 2013, PES 2014 lead developer Kei Masuda shed discussed a ground-breaking first in the game’s control scheme, the decision not to rush out a next-gen version and explained the importance of home and away fixtures.

Konami have revealed loads of new info on PES 2014. Running on an “enhanced Fox Engine” a host of new features have been announced including TrueBall Tech which accurately models the ball, taking into account player movement using “barycentric physics”. A new Motion Animation Stability System also simulates players interactions.
