Blade Wolf is Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance’s third DLC pack, out May 14th

Konami has announced its third DLC pack for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. It’s called Blade Wolf and it’s out May 14th for €6.99 (that’s £5.92, although we’ll see if it’s converted that kindly on the UK Store). Here’s some fangtastic new screens.

Metal Gear Rising PS3 review

Despite what you might be expecting, this does actually feel like a Metal Gear game. Not when you’re playing it, obviously – then it’s a classic barmy Platinum actioner that moves at all of the miles per hour – but there’s endless Codec waffle, alert phases, and a handful of bosses with some seriously unusual abilities. And cardboard boxes, obviously.

Phew. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is the real deal, after all. From exclamation marks to security cameras, stealthy stabbings to ear-popping Alert Phases, cardboard boxes to carefully placed posters of chesty wenches – Raiden’s return reeks of classic MGS hallmarks (although the bit where our bleach-blond ninja bodyslams a car park-sized Metal Gear Ray like the world’s stabbiest wrestler is new.).

Speaking to OPM UK, Kojima Productions producer Yuji Korekado and Platinum Games director Keiji Saito revealed that Metal Gear Rising was at a playable level of development when Platinum Games took over from Kojima productions – and had designed a number of boss battles you’ll never get to see.
