Sony has started this year’s Christmas PSN offers with discounts for FIFA 14 on both PS3 & PS Vita. The offer’s between Sunday 1st December to Tuesday 3rd December, at which point the next one will appear.

A new PS3 patch for FIFA 14 will be fixing a few issues fans have raised. The statement on EA’s forums states that the team are “working hard to prioritize and address the items that have been brought to our attention”. It’s also investigating reports of freezing but there’s no fix there yet.

The trouble with iterative sports games is that, year on year, you rarely feel like you’re truly getting a new experience on first play. Familiarity breeds contempt. So cue up The Great Escape and prepare your clumsiest Ian Holloway touchline dance, because this year EA’s footballing colossus has changed more than at any time since the series moved to PS3 in 2007. It does feel like a new game, in the very best way possible.

EA Canada’s David Rutter revealed new details on FIFA 14 for PS4 at Gamescom earlier this afternoon. The executive producer of the footy goliath briefly lifted the lid on Living Worlds, a next-gen only feature that supposedly makes the PS4 version much more authentic that what you can play on PS3. New FIFA Ultimate Team details were also forthcoming.
