Rather fittingly for a fighter centred on the masked heroes and villains of the DC universe, this is a game typified by impostors and mistaken identity. The masquerade theme kicks off in the game’s single-player Story mode, a gloriously silly campaign that sees a bunch of the ‘real’ DC champions and evil-doers transported to a parallel universe in which an expanding empire of twisted heroes are taking control of the world, lead by a surly-looking Superman.

The biggest things on the PlayStation Store this week are Minecraft and the first episode of The Walking Dead Season 2. There's also the White Shark version of GTA 5's in-game cash card, the most expensive one obviously and a whole bunch of other stuff.

A leaked email suggests Sony are considering adding PlayStation Mobile games to PS Vita TV. The important bit is that it's an English mail to a Western developer, implying Sony might be bringing the machine to a US/UK market.

More PS4 footage of Dying Light, this time showing some night time action which actually looks fairly unpleasant with its focus on running past crowds of angry zombies picked out in torch beams.

A whole load of new info has appeared on PS4's The Division detailing its classes RPG structure, always online co-op gameplay and tight resource management economy that sees food and water as valuable trading currency.
11:15am December 17 2013
That some sort of PS4 Oculus Rift VR headset is on the way is almost a given with mounting rumours and gossip. Now a Sony patent has shed more on the system's "obstacle avoidance" systems and biofeedback, including reading your brainwaves.

Nothing like a surprise for Christmas. Mojang has just announced that Minecraft will be releasing on PS3 on the 18th. That's only version mentioned: the PS Vita and PS4 versions don't have release dates yet.

As we approach the hundredth anniversary of one of the darkest chapters in human history, a humble little 2D puzzle-platformer, What is Valiant Hearts: The Great War, aims to ensure that not all war-based games are thoughtless slaughter simulators.

While it’s true that you should never text and drive, you’re definitely going to want to keep your smartphone or tablet close to hand when open-world racer The Crew launches early next year. Here's how its car customising PS4 companion app works.
12:54pm December 13 2013
The good thing about the proliferation of companion apps for mobiles, iPads and the like is that they lend themselves to a whole bunch of truly hilarious puns. Think ‘what’s app-ening’, ‘app-y go lucky’, and – my personal favourite – ‘app where we belong’. So now I’ve ruined the use of those for everybody else, let’s discuss Watch Dogs’ second-screen experience.

Here's this week's PS4 o'clock in its new Friday morning slot. Today I'm looking at PS4 free-to-play games (thanks to Stewart Pospischil for the suggestion). So that's Warframe, DC Universe Online, Blacklight Retribution and War Thunder.
11:22am December 13 2013
Sony has announced the next batch of PS Plus free games which include the indie survival adventure Don't Starve on PS4 as well as Borderlands 2 and DmC on PS3. There's also Soul Sacrifice and Blazblue Continuum Shift Extend on PS Vita. Good month then.
12:33pm December 12 2013
The strange thing with Thief on PS4 is, having Garrett perform third-person takedowns and search for loot using the now ubiquitous focus mode (seriously, Square, what gives? Court-ordered mandate?) doesn’t feel all that wrong.
12:01pm December 12 2013
Heat, processing issues and lack of power are the main culprits behind PS4's lack of backwards compatibility. PS3 games might appear on PlayStation 4 via Gaikai in the future but there are several strong reasons why you'll never play old games straight off the disc.
11:20am December 12 2013
For as long as I can remember, I always wanted to be a racing driver. Well, until one life-affirming evening in 1997 when I popped over to my mate’s house to play a new game called Gran Turismo, and decided that this’ll pretty much do (aim high, kids). Still, I had goals: since getting into the games writing biz I’ve yearned to slap a score on a GT, and fifteen years after that first barrier-bothering lap of the High Speed Ring, the day’s come. Gran Turismo 6 review? Here we go…

DICE has issued a new update for Battlefield 4 on PS4 that should fix a number of issues including 'client crashes', corrupt saves and the audio issues that plague the larger maps like Golmud Railway.
10:29am December 12 2013
Bethesda has confirmed a June release date for The Elder Scrolls Online on PS4 and shown off a new trailer full of PvP action. Unsurprisingly it's a lot of stern people with pointy ears trying to kill each other.
12:01pm December 11 2013
The PS3 isn't dead yet - let's make that clear - but as the focus shifts to PS4 and Sony's next-gen future we look back at those games that have shaped the world we're about to enter. Those titles that have stood out and made their mark on PlayStation.
11:16am December 11 2013
When is a game not a game? The correct answer is when it's a tech demo. That elusive slice of forward-looking graphical bewitchery that rarely ever gets a proper release. And in the case of David Cage’s beguiling Kara, that’s a massive shame.
10:22am December 11 2013
A new PS4 system update, number 1.52, is due soon with Sony promising more improvements to "system software stability". The heads up has come from a US Tweet so expect it to deploy there first and then pop up here a few days later.
