For your PS3 video-considering pleasure this week we have footage of the Mass Effect 3 demo, a guide to the dastardly difficult Catherine and a Far Cry trailer so spectacular in its tropical splendour, it makes us unbelievably sad we don’t live in paradise… or at least Hawaii.
Here’s OPM’s Joel and CVG’s James to talk you through a video preview of the new crime game Sleeping Dogs. There are triads who apparently “do bad crime stuff” as well as some violent Arkham City style fighting, smooth traversal mechanics and loads of very satisfying looking slow-mo head shots. There’s plenty of new in game footage in there so fill your boots. We’ve also got a load of Sleeping Dogs screens and another Sleeping Dogs preview.
Here’s the snappily titled “Max Payne 3 official trailer 2″. There’s few explosions before it gets into more details about Max’s boss’ trophy wife, Fabiana, who’s the kidnapped woman at the heart of the story.
First it was leaked and gave away Far Cry 3′s release date. Then it was taken down and now it’s back up again because those extra hours of secrecy make all the difference. In case you missed it first time around it shows a man transforming from tourist to jungle warrior in, ooh, seconds. There’s also mystery dub step from nowhere because it wouldn’t be a game trailer without the WUBS!.
Here’s CVG’s James and Matt to talk about Street Fighter X Tekken. They’ve spent some time with the game and have plenty to say about the balancing, if the crossover feels gimmicky and whether it stands up to the Street Fighter legacy. There’s also tons of new punchy footage.
This looks expensive. It’s also pretty great: a live action take on Sleeping Dog’s open world Honk Kong crime action. There’s shooting, fighting, a man on fire and the hero jumping on to a moving bus from a speeding motorbike. It must have cost a fortune in stuntman insurance alone.
Here’s Andy Kelly to talk you through his thoughts on the opening hours of Syndicate, the techy shooter from EA and Starbreeze. Pros: great future noir world, storytelling and characters. Cons: lack of depth, old fashioned game design and rubs boss fights. Overall, it’s looking strong though so watch the video which has loads of new footage and see what you think.
It’s Leon and Phil again to talk you through new footage of The Darkness 2 in this PS3 video review. (You can read Phil’s full Darkness 2 PS3 review here). Here we discuss the changes to the sequel, the bloody (but fun) combat and the less than sucessfull boss fight where it all gets a bit Deus Ex.
I don’t mean the first ten minutes that were weird either. I just mean the first ten minutes overall. It’s all weird. Well, what were you expecting from a video that mixes philosophical relationship metaphors with bizarre dreams full of sheep and block puzzles? It’s probably easier to watch the the video to get an idea for it, or read our import Catherine PS3 review.
In this week’s PS3 video round up we have precognitive Skyrim videos which can predict the Super Bowl XLVI result, our Metal Gear Solid 3 HD frog guide and a Battlefield 3 glitch featuring a soldier the size of Mothra. Please, someone make those damn Kerotan croaks stop. It’s all we can hear.
