Journey

Jenova Chen has popped up on the Eu Blog to announce Journey’s March 14th release date and talk about about the game. He describes the PSN offering as an “interactive parable, an anonymous online adventure to experience a person’s life passage and their intersections with others”. Jenova Chen and thatgamecompany were previously behind ambient eat-em-up Flow and the beautiful petal on the wind thing, Flower. Journey is just as arty and sees you wandering a strange desert, using strips of cloth to gain powers like flight and occasionally encountering other gamers on their own online pilgrimage. New PS3 firmware update

firmware

Apparently that’ll be ‘PS3 System Software Update v4.11′. There’s no hard info on what it actually does other than it will “improves certain aspects of system software”. Curiously it’s an optional install in the US and Canada but mandatory here in the EU. I’m going to hazard a guess it’s a localisation issue then.

MGO

Snaaaaaake! Etc. Apparently that’s it for Metal Gear Online. Dead, over, finished. Konami has said it’ll be closing MGS’ online multiplayer in June. The MGO online shop will go first, closing on March 21, character creation will be closed down towards the end of April and while expansion packs will be free from April 24th onwards free up until the end, the game will be finished online as of the 12th of June.

It was good, wasn’t it?

PSN

The EU Blog has the latest info on the new firmware which is out later today. The biggest tweak will be the change from PSN to SEN accounts (it stands for Sony Entertainment Network, okay? That’s it on the special needs jokes). There’ll also be some browser improvements and – contain yourselves – a more accurate way to set the clock. YES! Check the EU blog for the full details.

PSN becomes SEN

‘E’ is a much cooler letter, obviously. Sony have announced that they’ll be shifting your PSN accounts over to their product wide Sony Entertainment Network in an upcoming firmware update. The change will affect PS3s and PS Vita but poor old PSP gets left behind. There’ll be little actual change to anything you encounter bar a tweak to some T&Cs. According to Sony’s press release, “This helps us get closer to our goal of establishing a global comprehensive network platform of services across games, movies, music and more, all accessible from one convenient account.”
