The Division on PS4 delayed, new 1080p Driveclub videos and Assassin’s Creed continuing on PS3 – Daily PlayStation news round up
With one hand Ubisoft giveth and the other it taketh away. Point in case, the French publisher announces Far Cry 4 yesterday, then almost immediately lets it be known that The Division has been delayed. YAY! BOO! Oh, and we also have some new Driveclub videos and news on last-gen Assassin’s Creed for you in the week’s final PlayStation round up.
PlayStation round up
- Contrary to previous statements from Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot, The Division’s release date won’t be “the second half of 2014″. Instead, the publisher has now confirmed the ambitious online apocalypse adventure has been delayed until 2015. It’s also interesting to note the game is only listed for now-gen consoles and PC. Sorry, PS3 fans. Studio Massive Entertainment released the following statement in light of the delay: “Working on The Division is a once in a lifetime opportunity for all of us at Massive, Reflections, and Red Storm Entertainment,” the developer said. “We are creating something we are really proud of and we don’t want to compromise on quality. We are going to release the game when it’s ready.”
- Old Yves has also been commenting on the future of last-gen Assassin’s Creed, reassuring shareholders during this week’s financial call that the series would feature on PS3 this fall in some form and would continue on Sony’s old girl for “the foreseeable future”. The lack of mention of a PS3 version of Assassin’s Creed: Unity has led some to speculate the game the CEO was referring to is the rumoured Assassin’s Creed Comet, the supposed last-gen exclusive adventure that acts as more of a direct continuation of the events from Black Flag.
- Finally, if pictures are worth 1000 words, how many does this new Driveclub 1080p video showing off some stonking PS4-rendered Canadian wilderness add up to?
