Sony Online Entertainment about to announce H1Z1?

Sony Online Entertainment boss John Smedley has confirmed that the publisher will be revealing “a game we haven’t announced” later today, most likely H1Z1. A teaser site appeared today for the game, following on from a trademark application from Sony in Jan. Internet detectives reckon it’ll be a zombie survival game.

Sony Online Entertainment about to announce H1Z1?

Here’s the tweet from Smedley:

h1z1.com went live earlier this week, and doesn’t give away too much on its own. However, it corresponds with a trademark application Sony filed in January. The most common speculation is that it’s an open-world online zombie survival game in the mould of DayZ – the name H1Z1 is a reference to a 2009 internet hoax based on the H1N1 bird flu virus.

We don’t even know for sure that it’ll be a PS4 title yet – there’ll be egg on my face if not – but the publisher’s last game, DC universe online, did make it to Sony’s next-gen console. Likewise, Everquest Next and Planetside 2 are planned for PS4 releases.

Thanks, CVG.
