Reports suggest Watch Dogs runs at 1080p on PS4, 900p on Xbox One
Update: We’ve been in touch with Ubisoft, who respond: “we are not commenting on rumours or speculations.” That’s not to say the rumours are categorically untrue, but it is to say Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed it.
A number of sites are reporting a disparity between the resolution of Ubisoft’s upcoming Watch Dogs on PS4 and Xbox One. Reportedly the PS4 version runs at 1080p and 30 frames per second, to the Xbone’s 900p. If it’s true, it continues a growing trend of games whose resolutions differ between formats.
Watch Dogs may only run at 900p on Xbox One
The source of the stories originates to The Arab Gamer, who claims:
“Ubisoft have revealed during their Watch Dogs press conference that the game will run on the following resolutions and framerate for next gen systems:
- PS4: 1080p/30fps
- Xbox One: 960p/30fps
- PC: up to 4K/framerate varies”
This follows rumours sparked by industry insider shinobi602 that an ‘upcoming hacker game’ would run at 900p on Xbox one:
We’re wary of believing the claims at face value, given what a hot topic resolution has become in the games press lately. At present Ubisoft couldn’t be contacted for clarification, but we’ll update as we hear from them.
