The Last Of Us DLC, Left Behind, will focus more on exploration rather than combat but will include multi-faction fights where Ellie and Reilly use distractions to lure Clickers into attacking human enemies. The info comes from an interview with Naughty Dog.
Left Behind focuses on exploration & “non-combat gameplay”
The new DLC is set in a mall that, according to lead game designer, Jacob Minkoff, “exceeds the narrative density in the main game”. There’s particular reference to, “what the survivors might have done after the outbreak”.
The Last Of Us Left Behind DLC focuses on what happened to Ellie & Reilly before the main game.
Game designer, Anthony Newman, talks of a “stronger emphasis on exploration and non-combat gameplay” while explaining the new multi-faction combat. The examples he gives includes throwing bottles to lead clickers into other enemies or acting as human bait to draw attackers together.
