Saying that Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag’s map is large is a bit like saying Metal Gear Solid 4 has some cutscenes. It’s technically true, but it doesn’t quite convey what’s really going on. Zooming out is a bit like pulling back a camera located on the ISS that’s been focused on a particularly feisty cockroach – it just goes on and on and on. As well as the major cities – Havana, Nassau and Kingston – there are countless smaller island dotted around the map, each with treasure to find, assassination contracts to pick up, or coconuts filled with delicious rum punch to drink. Although that might be coming later via DLC… And barring the odd black screen before and after cutscenes, all of this exploration is seamless on PS4.
