As part of our hands on time with Watch Dogs we travelled out to visit Ubisoft to play the game in the company of creative director Jonathan Morin. We played a massive chunk of the game on PS4 and talked to Marin about what the game’s doing differently and how the many hacking and tech systems work.
“The strength of Watch Dogs from a gameplay standpoint is that over time you’ll never experience the same thing [twice]“, he promises. After hacking and shooting our way through a few hours action we believe him.
Staying with current gen for a moment we’ve also got a big GTA feature full of trivia and facts from the series history. 36 Things You Didn’t Know About Grand Theft Auto covers everything from the accidental creation of the first ever GTA when it was called Race’n'Chase, and covers every game in the series – development facts, hidden references, actor trivia and plenty more.
Heading back into next-gen land we’ve got a sit down with DICE’s multiplayer producer Aleksander Grondal about what Battlefield 4 will be bringing to the online war as well as a breakdown of what it’s like developing for PS4. Grondal outlines next-gen features and PlayStation 4 specific functions like the Share button and the new tech that’s enabling 60FPS gaming with 60 players online
Elsewhere we’ve a look at the state of advertising in games and how while it’s got a bad rep it’s not always a disaster. And, considering the more connected online and social nature of PS4, it’s something you’re probably going to see more of.
We’ve also got coverage of games like The Elder Scrolls Online, Assassin’s Creed 4, Batman Arkham Origins and Dark Souls 2. Reviews of Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Saints Row 4 and The Bureau: Xcom Declassified and loads of opinion and news on the world of PlayStation and PS4.
