FIFA 14 on Vita looks to be another shameless reskin job
This really does take the cake… and the entire patisserie. For the second year, and third title running, EA seems set to put out another identical soccer game with FIFA 14 on Vita.
FIFA 14 Vita
Speaking to Eurogamer at Gamescom, executive producer David Rutter seemed to confirm the new title would essentially just be FIFA 13, but with updated kits for the new season. “There will be a Vita version, and it’ll be the same great gameplay.” When pressed if this meant FIFA 14 was essentially exactly the same as its predecessor accept for the kits he said: “It’s the same great gameplay and new kits.” The game is currently being developed by one of EA’s studios in Romania.
If EA does release yet another reskin job it will be an utterly shameful disservice to Vita owners. FIFA 13 on Vita was a cynical hatchet job built on the FIFA 11 engine. Indeed, it was such a shameless conversion, it didn’t even bother to update players’ ages from launch title FIFA Football. Come on, EA: Vita deserves better than this.
