PS4 Rift by Oculus – Exclusive concept design by T3
[Update: Sony are rumoured to be revealing a PlayStation branded Oculus Rift PS4 style headset at the Tokyo Game Show.]
With Sony publicly admitting that it has Oculus Rift dev kits in the office and Shuhei Yoshida proclaiming himself a fan, our sister mag T3 has produced an exclusive concept render of PS4′s first VR head-mounted display.

These concept designs becoming a reality would lead to the release of PlayStation’s first ever head-mounted display. Rather than playing games on your TV or a projector, you’d don what looks like the sexiest ski mask ever invented, and have beautiful HD images pumped almost directly into your eyeballs.
Prospective specs include a 1 x 7 inch HD OLED panel with 2160 x 1920 resolution, and a 3 axis combination of gyro, accelerometer and magnetomer to read your head movements.
A sequence in the video also gives an example of how Killzone: Shadow Fall and Driveclub would play if viewed through PS4′s Oculus Rift.
“We’ve got a couple of the development kits, and I tried it out and I love it,” admitted Shuhei Yoshida, SCE Head Of Worldwide Studios, recently. He’s not the only one – Epic Games, creators of the Unreal Engine, plan to support the Oculus Rift in its upcoming games, and Valve’s Gabe Newell and id’s John Carmack have also been swift to endorse it.
This is very much the future, so be sure to check T3′s vid out.
