Ellen Page on The Last Of Us’ Ellie: “I guess I should be flattered they ripped off my likeness”

Not exactly sounding happy about it Ellen Page has talked about Naughty Dog’s original Ellie in a Reddit AMA saying, ”I guess I should be flattered that they ripped off my likeness”. The character was suspiciously redesigned shortly before Beyond, which stars Page,  was announced

Ellen Page on  Ellie: “I guess I should be flattered”

At the time of the redesign Naughty Dog claimed, ”We decided to modify Ellie’s model to better reflect actress Ashley Johnson’s personality, and also resemble a slightly younger teen more fitting to the story.” That said the resemblance was so strong that even after the redesign there were people commenting in the AMA that they hadn’t realised it wasn’t Page playing the part.

When asked about the likeness on Reddit page replied, “I guess I should be flattered that they ripped off my likeness, but I am actually acting in a video game called Beyond Two Souls, so it was not appreciated”. Speaking about David Cage’s upcoming game she said, “We did do our own motion capture. The suits are not that bad actually…it is sort of nice to not sorry about wardrobe”. She also mentioned co-star Willem Defoe saying, “Willem is an incredible actor and I loved working with him”. She then went on to describe making the game as, “incredible experience” adding, “I think what David Cage is doing is really remarkable, the first of its kind and I feel grateful to be involved”.
