EA announced Need For Speed Rivals at E3. The PS4 racer looks to blur the lines between single-player, co-op and multiplayer with All Drive.

The system sounds like an evolution of Autolog (first introduced in Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit). During EA’s E3 press conference, new developer Ghost Games showed a race that started off in single-player but ended in multiplayer. During the speedy shenanigans, one of the developers even called in backup through a helicopter using his tablet.
Like Hot Pursuit, cops vs racers will very much be at the front of the agenda. Last year’s Most Wanted was a wonderfully seamless experience that truly gelled single-player and online sensibilities together. Let’s hope Ghost Games can match the standards Criterion has set.
