New Battlefield 4 gameplay at E3 – DICE shows off a live 64 player match
New Battlefield 4 gameplay was shown during E3. Developer DICE announced Commander mode for the Frostbite 3-powered shooter. This will allow players to take a bird’s eye view of the terrain below them during matches and directly impact the action on the ground.

At the EA E3 conference, DICE showed off the game with a hugely impressive live 64 player demo that was carried out on stage live. Played on a map called Siege on Shanghai, the new Battlefield 4 gameplay featured helicopters, tanks, jeeps and an unholy amount of destruction. Oh, and an embarrassing amount of bromantic ‘banter’ between the players to boot.
There was also a glance at players riding jet skis in the waters of the map, and an assault on a skyscraper, which ended with the building collapsing as the squad parachuted from its summit. Even at this stage, the action looked hella strong, with a level of believable destruction you’d expect from DICE. One moment also showed off Commander mode, with a player dropping an artillery attack from the skies to help out his team.
EA’s Battlelog system will also play a big part in the experience, and will let you track your stats and interact with the game on multiple devices
