Thomas Was Alone

Formats: PS3/PS Vita Out: Now

Described by Charlie Brooker as “Tetris The Movie” and our own Joel Gregory as a “winning piece of minimalist game design”, this Danny Wallace-narrated puzzle gem follows a red brick and his colourful band of friends through a variety of challenging levels. Each shape has his or her own unique ability such as flotation or simply height advantage and by juggling between Thomas, Chris, Laura and co. – what do you mean they’re just blocks of colour?! – you can progress to a portal to continue the story.  With the narration filling each individual block with more character than we’ve seen in the entirety of some recent triple A games, and an excellent soundtrack, Thomas is a perfect companion on both PS3 and PS Vita.
