Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pains screens – direct shots from Kojima’s GDC presentation

Hideo Kojima has finally confirmed that Metal Gear Solid 5, The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes are all the same game. These new screens show fresh gameplay & pose lots of questions. Like, for example, why has Snake grown a single demon horn on his forehead?

Kojima confirmed the news at his GDC presentation where he explained that “Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain put together is Metal Gear Solid 5” and that “The Phantom Pain is an open world game but in the beginning it’s more of a rail game as a tutorial”. It’s the hospital section, which sees Snake wake up from a nine year coma that formed what the tutorial part, previously shown off as The Phantom Pain.

There are loads of odd details to pick out, like whether the little freaky gas mask kid with red hair is a young Psycho Mantis, and what’s with all the demon imagery – Snake appears at one point with a small, horn growing out of his head. Any ideas?
