The Walking Dead Season 2 on PS4 could follow on from your PS3 saves

Telltale Games have revealed that The Walking Dead’s second season on PS4 might be able to read your PS3 saves and build on the decisions you’ve made.

The Walking Dead on PS4

PS4 currently won’t play PS3 games “natively” according to senior vice president of Worldwide Studios Michael Denny who has added that, “through GaiKai there’s the possibility of having access in the future to back catalogue products from hopefully all PlayStation previous formats”. This lack of native compatibility extends to saves, something that would have meant the choices you made in The Walking Dead would have been forever trapped on your PS3.

However, executive producer Kevin Boyle has said that, ”Season 2 will read what you did in Season 1 and that will tailor some of the things that happened in Season 2″. While that seems to specifically suggest the PS4 will be reading your PS3 saves, all Boyle would add is, “We can’t say anything about that specifically right now.” But while Boyle hasn’t gone into specifics, Telltale founder Kevin Bruner has said “We’re in close contact with Sony and they understand what is the secret recipe of The Walking Dead so expect that we’ll be talking about it soon.”

Boyle also spoke about the PS4′s far more connected and sharing-centric architecture. “They’ll be a lot more social and in-between episode features for Season 2 that definitely exploit what the new platforms have to offer. We’re super-excited about PlayStation 4 and what all the other big console manufacturers have in store.”
