Crystal Dynamics’ studio head, Darrell Gallagher, talked about the enduring lifespan of Tomb Raider (17 years and counting) and says they took inspiration from sources outside of games to see how long-running series reinvent themselves. “Bond and Batman are two great examples,” he highlights, “with Bond being around for 50 years. We looked at the bold choices they made to make sure the franchise is relevant for a current audience”.

GK Films are behind movies like Hugo and The Departed and are working closely with Crystal Dynamics to ensure the project doesn’t, “stick to a formula that is dated,” Gallagher explains, “We didn’t want to see a film version that was a continuation of the old Tomb Raider films.
