Battlefield 4 confirmed (again!), looks like it’s out this year

Yes, it’s a headline we’ve written about three times now, but despite the lack of any official EA announcement, its appears that Battlefield 4 is definitely a few short months away. Er, probably. How are we so sure this time out? It’s been showing the game off to retailers behind closed doors.

Battlefield 4 release date 2013?

US retailer Gamestop’s CEO Paul Raines was the man who broke the news to the world, Tweeting yesterday that he “got to see Battlefield 4 today and all I can say is WOW! Thanks @EA for the sneak peek. Can’t wait for you all to see it”.

The post was later RT’d by EA’s official Twitter account, which – short of the company distributing an official press release – is the best confirmation you’ll find that the game will be in stores later this year.

And why are we so sure of that 2013 release date? Because games being shown to retailers now will almost certainly be those coming out in this year’s Christmas window. It’d make no sense to gauge buyer interest now for a product coming out in, say, the summer of 2014.

So that’s a Battlefield 4 release this year basically confirmed. Over to you, Call Of Duty.

(And thanks, MCV.)
