The Last Of Us PS3 special editions announced. Not so much his and hers as Joel and Ellie’s

[Two new The Last Of Us trailers have been released outlining the special edition contents.]

What’s a AAA game these days without a shiny special edition to spaff your wonga on. That said, the recently confirmed, Joel and Ellie Editions for The Last Of Us look all kinds of apocalyptic awesome.

The Last Of Us special editions

SCEU confirmed both special editions will be exclusive to PAL territories and will launch with the normal version of The Last Of Us on 7 May. Each edition is specific to the two main characters, with exclusive art and branding for the grizzled survivor and the teenage girl he’s protecting.

Included in each swanky collectors edition is a mini artbook, a copy of the first issue of the Dark Horse comic ‘The Last Of Us: American Dreams‘ (which explores Ellie’s backstory prior to Naughty Dog’s game) and a poster. Depending on which version you buy, you’ll also get a skin for your DualShock 3 of either Joel or Ellie.

If you’re a fan of the Sack, you’ll also be pleased to hear the special editions of The Last Of Us come with DLC codes for LittleBigPlanet that will let you download either a Joel or Ellie Sackboy costume. D’awww.

Perhaps most significantly, the special editions are jammed to the rafters with DLC for the game, coming with two packs that contain the following…

Survival DLC Pack

Multiplayer bonuses:

  • Bonus XP
  • Melee booster
  • In-game currency
  • Customisable character items

Bonus Joel and Ellie skins available once the single player game is completed

Sights & Sounds DLC Pack

  • Official game soundtrack by Academy Award-winning musician Gustavo Santaolalla
  • PS3 Dynamic Theme
  • PSN avatars: Winter Joel & Ellie

The Last of Us: Joel Edition or The Last Of Us: Ellie Edition will set you back £59.99.

Hey, the world’s ending (for Naughty Dog’s survivors, anyhoo), so what’s an extra tenner?
