It will know you are, always
The biometric recognition technology patent that Sony recently applied for would allow your console to automatically recognise who you are. Succinctly named “PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR AUTOMATICALLY IDENTIFYING USER OF CONSUMER ELECTRONICS” the system would eliminate the need for boring password entries – you’d just login to the PSN by sitting down to play. Or as they put it, “content that depends on the user’s identity can be provided to or from the device”. After all, entering passwords is a tedious chore that grows tiresome by the second letter. Whilst this could mean more targeted advertising, something hardcore gamers would definitely dislike, the tech potential is huge.
