Ninja Theory deny Onimusha reboot rumour
DmC developer Ninja Theory has denied it’s working on an oft rumoured Onimusha reboot, stating very clearly that, “We are not working on an Onimusha game”.
Ninja Theory deny Onimusha 5
The developer posted this tweet today which is hard to argue with.
The Onimusha reboot has been floating around for a while with developer Spark Unlimited previously linked to the project. Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono stated last year that, “It feels like it’s the time to resurrect that series,” but made it clear that he wanted to try something different. “I wouldn’t want to do the things we’ve done before. I think it might be time to progress beyond the single-player adventure. Perhaps implement some sort of multiplayer”. He also seemed to have a few ideas that hadn’t “solidified yet”.
Prior to that Capcom previously made it clear that bringing the PlayStation classic back is often discussed but has been held back by a lack of a, “‘That’s it’ idea of how to get the game back up to 3 or 4 million units” according to Capcom’s Christian Svensson.
