inSane still in development after THQ dropped it, says Guillermo Del Toro
Remember inSane, the collaboration between THQ and BAFTA-winning director Guillermo Del Toro? According to the man himself, the game might yet see the light of day – from an as yet undisclosed developer.
inSane still in development
Speaking with IGN, Del Toro gave an insight into inSane’s current state of play. “We were going to go to a lot of developers after THQ, but it seems like we’re going to be developing it after the first meeting we had,” commented the Pan’s Labyrinth directory.
“I can’t disclose where it was, but we went to a great developer on the first meeting and it seems that they’re picking it up because they love the package.”
When it was originally announced, inSane was billed as a triple-A trilogy. But in the wake of THQ’s reconfiguration and the wider financial climate, the focus is now on putting one game out into the wild, and seeing how well it does:
“I think seeing the environments and what it is — we are now very gladly free of the economic crisis. I think we’re going to concentrate on making it a great game and then we’ll see.”
So how long do we have to wait before inSane hits the expos, and eventually the shop shelves? By the sound of things, inSane was still in pre-production before THQ pulled the plug:
“It’s going to take a good two years of modeling and rendering and creating the environments and all of that. The basic tenants of the game is that it’s created, but now we’re going to need to start actually making it.”
