Whore Of The Orient targeting 2015 release, “Similar in style to LA Noire”

Whore of the orient

Job ads suggest LA Noire director Brendan McNamara’s next game, Whore Of the Orient, is aiming for a 2015 release date. That ties in with previous talk of it being a PS4 game. A listing also suggests it’s going to be a lot like McNamara’s previous “narrative action adventure.

Whore Of The Orient release due 2015

The various jobs on offer are all for senior programmers of various disciplines and target development schdule between 2013 and 2015. The latter date obviously suggesting completion and release. Various quotes for the positions talk about the game being a ”Narrative action adventure title” that’s “similar in style to LA Noire”. There’s also talk of it using LA Noire’s MotionScan technology again.

An Australian games recruitment firm recently put up a couple of openings at the Sydney-based KMM Interactive (aka Team Bondi), which is currently working on Brendan McNamara’s L.A. Noire followup Whore of the Orient. According to one of the listings, the title is in pre-production, with “full production” expected to begin some time early next year and last until middle of 2015—presumably suggesting a planned release sometime in 2015. Another job post describes the game as a “Narrative action adventure title” “similar in style to LA Noire” utilizing the proprietary “facial MotionScan technology” exhibited to great effect in McNamara’s last game.

Previously Team Bondi’s own website released then took down this quote about the game:

“Shanghai, 1936. Whore of the Orient. Paris of the East. The most corrupt and decadent city on the planet, where anything can be had or done for the right price. Plaything of Western powers who greedily exploit the Chinese masses. Boiling pot of Chinese nationalism, with the Kuomintang ruthlessly trying to suppress Communism and the labour movement. Home to the International Police Force, a group of Western cops hopelessly trying to keep the lid on and keep the peace.”

Here’s all the Whore Of The Orient info we have so far.
