From PS3 Super Slim to PSone: a history of PlayStation makeovers

D’awww. Would you just look at the little fella. Released not long after PS2 in July of 2000, and coming six years after the original PS1, Sony’s first redesigned machine measured in at a tiny 38 mm × 193 mm × 144 mm versus 45 mm × 260 mm × 185 mm. Even the DualShock nearly dwarfs the wee beggar. The Jiminy Cricket chic went down well with the masses, too. So much so, the PSone went on to outsell every other machine in 2000.

It obviously wasn’t as sleek as the new PS3 Super Slim, but we’ll always retain a squidgy place in our tickers for My First PlayStation.
