New Star Wars game announced pre-E3: it’s called Star Wars 1313 and it’s not for kids
LucasArts has announced a brand-new Star Wars IP, named Star Wars 1313. We’ll get full details at E3 2012, but so far all we know is that it’s an 18-rated third-person adventure which puts the player in the role of a bounty hunter and is set beneath the surface of planet Coruscant amidst a criminal underworld. So quite a lot, actually.
Combat won’t be force-driven. Instead, players will use a mixture of “exotic weaponry” (guava-flavoured laser pistols?) and gadgets. We’re thinking more shoulder pads, less robes. According to LucasArts’ official statement, the story’s going to be gritty and relatively small-scale compared to the movies:
“Named for Level 1313, a ruthless criminal underground deep below the surface of the planet of Coruscant, the game puts players in control of a deadly bounty hunter as he uses an arsenal of exotic weaponry to hunt down his marks and uncover the truth surrounding a criminal conspiracy.”
We’ll keep you right up to date with the latest details on Star Wars 1313 when it officially debuts at E3 2012. No platforms have been officially announced yet, but it’s about time we got a decent Star Wars title on PS3. Not that we’ve been exactly slumming it with games like Mass Effect 3 in the sci-fi department.
