Resident Evil 6 info & trailer: new C-Virus, Wesker’s son and Mercenaries. Oct 2nd release date.
The latest Resident Evil 6 trailer has finally named that mysterious third playable character. It’s Jake Muller son of Albert Wesker and according Ada the heir to “very special blood type”. The game apparently focuses around three different but “interwoven” stories, each focused around three character pairs.
So that’s Leon S. Kennedy with US agent Helena Harper; Chris Redfield and new BSAA member Piers Nivans and Muller joining Sherry Birkin (the girl everyone originally thought was Ashley). Only Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, and Jake Muller will actually be playable. The threat they’re all facing together is the new C-virus, a more virulent infection that’s creating all fresh monsters all over North America, Eastern Europe and China.
Zombies are back as a result but are now able to run, jump and use weapons, which is great for the zombie, not so much for everyone else. Then there’s the J’avo. These creatures can regenerate when hurt but are also able to mutate new appendages when they take heavy damage. It means you’ll have to adapt on the fly as a shot up arm turns into a long flailing tentacle or worse. There’s also talk of the Chrysalide which “take the mutation process even further as they undergo a full metamorphosis; spawning a whole host of horrific creatures”.
Co-op play is confirmed. While there’s no word on Resident Evil 6′s previously rumoured 6 player co-op the current info only lists 1-2 players. There’s also talk of a “new challenge” as you “Confront the results of the C-virus in all its varied and deadly forms” which sounds like an arena mode to me. Mercenaries mode is back as well which should make a lot of people happy.
The new Residen Evil 6 control mode is also clarified. It’s “an evolved control system allowing players to shoot whilst moving; slide; roll in any direction and to take cover along with the addition of an enhanced melee attack.” Shoot while moving. SHOOT WHILE MOVING. It’s about time.
