Yakuza: Dead Souls, Mass Effect 3 and Uncharted: Golden Abyss – PS3 Trophy news this week 07/03/12

regular temp

This week in the world of PlayStation trophies, we take a peek at the awards on offer in zombie-fest Yakuza: Dead Souls, earn shiny medals with Commander Shepard in Mass Effect 3, plus we have a top tip for netting 200 kills with the GAU-19 in Uncharted: Golden Abyss.

The big news

Shuffling and mumbling onto PS3 next week, Yakuza: Dead Souls has a selection of rewards that not only cover regular shooting and melee milestones, but also the more unusual minigames that fans of the Yakuza series will be familiar with. Singing every song at karaoke, going golfing and fishing, and playing all available gambling games are just a few of the distractions to help take your mind off zombie slaying.

Out this week

The biggest release of the year so far, Mass Effect 3 arrives with a number of cups that can be unlocked in either single-player or multiplayer to give you a choice of approach. Unless you have a save file to import from Mass Effect 2 you’ll need to complete the game twice for the Long Service Medal, plus the requirement for finishing the game on Insanity without changing the difficulty returns to provide an additional challenge.

Top trophy tip

Achieving the 200 Kills: GAU-19 trophy in Uncharted: Golden Abyss can prove tricky as this gun does not appear regularly during the course of the game, so there are few opportunities to rack up any kills with it. However, towards the end of chapter 33 there’s an area with a group of enemies including two who are armed with GAU-19s. Grab one of these guns, take down the rest of the enemies then pause and restart checkpoint, repeating the process until the trophy eventually plings.
