The Elder Scrolls 6 is go! Bethesda hiring for “Future Generation Console Programmer”
The job ad over at Zenimax.com says “Bethesda Game Studios is looking for experienced programmers to work on cutting-edge technology for an unannounced game on future-generation consoles.” It’s got to be the next Elder Scrolls or Fallout 4 on PS4, right? Worryingly one of the criteria is “Extensive experience programming and optimizing for the Xbox 360 and PS3″ which possibly suggests they’ll be working up their current engine rather than starting afresh. And we all know how well that’s been working out. MAKE A NEW ENGINE! One that can remember what cupboard you left your magic boots in without exploding.
True the Skyrim 1.4 PS3 update has fixed the issue but I’d rather the game worked first time. It’s a big ask I know but that’s what the future’s for.
The job add also asked for things like “Must create amazing things with minimal oversight” and mentions that “Experience playing Bethesda Game Studios games a plus”.
