PS Vita’s launch titles: action game roundup
Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus (Tecmo Koei)
This one’s a bit convoluted – it’s a portable version of the PS3 remake of the 1988 NES original. If you’re a Gaiden fan, chances are you’ve played this before in some guise. If it’s passed you by, you’re missing out on getting about as close to being a ninja as is possible. Ryu’s a devil with a blade and has free-running skills that that puts Ezio Auditore to shame, which makes for some genre-defining third-person slashing. If you have Sigma on PS3 though, look elsewhere, like…
Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen (Namco Bandai)
From the developer of the Tenchu series, Shinobido 2 mixes Ninja Gaiden’s ninj-abilities with stealth elements. It’s a sneak ‘em up set in a classic Kurosawa-esque Japanese setting, and promises plenty of depth, challenge, and farcical amounts of blood. Also, men in bear-skin hats.
Uncharted: Golden Abyss (SCEE)
Here’s the one you’ve been waiting for – it’s Nathan Drake on the little screen! Aww. Golden Abyss shows off the best visuals we’ve seen on PS Vita so far, and does a fine job of putting the big blockbuster console experience in a little box between your hands. Our Official PlayStation Magazine Uncharted Golden Abyss review tells you why.
