Well, that was quick. Scant hours after Insomniac CEO Ted Price shot down a Resistance sequel by saying, “We won’t be making any more Resistances” he jumped on Youtube to confirm the series will continue elsewhere.
In the video he mentioned that it’s, “Not the first time that we at Insomniac have said this, but today it was big news,” before reiterating that he “Did want to confirm it face to face that [Insomniac] are not moving on with the Resistance franchise”. Apparently the response was due to forum discussion and emails. His reasoning was, “We believe Resistance has reached the logical conclusion in terms of the story we wanted to tell”.
The good news, though, is that he then said, “However, it doesn’t mean the Resistance franchise isn’t continuing. It’s already in the capable hands of Nihilistic and with Sony’s shepherding it will continue to live on and expand”. Presumably that means Sony and another studio is eyeing up the series as we speak. Ted finished by saying “We’re excited, as fanboys, to see where it goes”. You and me both Ted.
He really does look a bit like Woody from Toy Story doesn’t he?
