GT5: Gran Turismo Academy drivers race in Dubai 24H
Here’s some news courtesy of the EU blog to turn anybody with petrol-headed inclinations and a Gran Turismo 5 save file green with envy – four former gamers who earned their professional racing licenses through the Gran Turismo Academy programme will be taking part in the gruelling Dubai 24 hour race this weekend.
Jann Mardenborough, Lucas Ordoñez, Jordan Tresson and Bryan Heitkotter will be competing for Team GT Academy in the SP2 class among Ferraris, Porsches, Audi R8s, Mercedes SLS AMGs and other distinctly desirable motors.Qualifying was held on Thursday, and the plucky team drove quickly enough for fourth in class. And to think once they were humble gamers like you and me. I’ve wasted my life.
Whether or not they’ll get the opportunity to quickly bung a stage 4 turbo kit and supercharger in their car before the race is unclear, but we’d recommend at least an oil change before the lights turn green.
You can read full details of the event and find out more on the Gran Turismo Academy over at the EU blog.
