Skyrims tops Christmas charts, still laggy
The sales figures have been counted up by Christmas elves, and it’s official – Skyrim sits atop the UK charts in dragon-like respendence, knocking EA and Activision off the xmas top spot for the first time in eight years – despite being the buggiest PS3 game this year and leaving many gamers will unplayable lag issues and teary faces.
It’s an interesting piece of history then to see Bethesda breaking that eight year winning streak set by Medal of Honor : Rising Sun in 2003 by EA and maintained by a string of tactically deployed military shooter sequels from EA and Activision.
Here’s the top ten in full:
1: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
2: Just Dance 3
3: Modern Warfare 3
4: FIFA 12
5: Saints Row: The Third
6: Battlefield 3
7:Assassin’s Creed: Revelations
8: Mario & Sonic at the 2012 London Olympics
9: Need for Speed: The Run
10: Professor Layton and the Spectre’s Call
It’s bittersweet news for us PS3 owners though. Great game. Fantastic in fact. Completely unplayable for some. That’s reflected in the PS3 chart, in which Modern Warfare 3 still tops, with Skyrim in second and Uncharted 3 in a lowly fifth place. Is Skyrim still top of your Christmas list, despite that bug?
