The Last Of Us being made by Uncharted dream team
[Update] There’s new info on The Last Of Us including the release date, some story details, confirmation of third person view and comments from the Naughty Dog team.
Now the trailer looks interesting, the fungus head zombies are great and it looks stunning. (Check out new The Last of Screens and more The Last Of Us info and the trailer). But it was only when I read the boring bits of the press release that I realised the people who are making it are a massively big deal.
Specifically Bruce Stanley and Neil Druckman. They were two of the key people behind Uncharted 2: Among Thieves which I consider (kicks hornets nest) to be the best of the series. Yes, better than 3 and still better than most games out there – Among Thieves was the game that raised the bar for adventure and storytelling. Now Bruce Stanley directed Uncharted 2, and before that was co-art director for Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, while Neil Druckman was the lead designer and co-writer on Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and is the creative director and writer for The Last Of Us.
That’s about as good as it gets then. Amy Hennig is in the mix somewhere and those two weren’t the only ones on the creative team for Uncharted 2 (Richard Lemarchand was also on design duties) but the the fact that Uncharted 2′s director, and lead designer/co-writer, are in charge of this excites me more than any trailer.
