“If Todd Howard has taken an ounce of inspiration from us I’m sure I’ve taken a pound from them” Ken Levine
Speaking to PlayStation Access Ken Levine has talked about the creative process and influences between other games. When asked a reader question about similarities between Bioshock and Skyrim’s “magic in one hand weapon in the other” set up, Levine said, “There is a constant back and forth”.
Levine said “In terms of another game, Skyrim or whatever, talking inspiration from us, there is a constant back and forth. If Todd Howard has taken an ounce of inspiration from us I’m sure I’ve taken a pound of inspiration from them.” He also added, “we always look to our colleagues and peers for inspiration and ideas. Certainly I know I’m inspired by my colleagues and peers, and my team’s inspired by them. If they’re inspired by us then that’s very honouring and flattering”.
He also admitted that gaming is basically his everything. “I play games all the time. I go to work, I go home I spend time with my wife, then I play games and that’s really a lot of my life and maybe that’s kind of sad but that’s a lot of my life. I’m always excited with this season where all these games come out by all these guys I know and admire. I’m lucky enough to hang out with these guys and know them, and then go and see these amazing worlds they create.”
The next Access episode is out on the PSN on Wednesday for free and then on Youtube Friday.
