Darkness 2 – Vendettas co-op mode announced, played

Flail your demonic tendrils around in celebration everyone – The Darkness II’s four player co-op mode, Vendettas, has been officially announced. Running in parallel to the solo campaign, Vendettas gets its own story with a cameo from Jackie, and four brand new characters each with their own unique weapons and abilities. We’ve also got the latest Darkness 2 co-op screens.

Vendettas mode is split into two sub-modes, like some kind of game-sperm dividing its cells and growing into a full-blown title. Vendettas campaign is intertwined with main protagonist Jackie Estacado’s story, so if Jackie has problems with the Brotherhood at a certain point, you’ll *adopts Brando tone* ‘deal with’ those problems in the co-op campaign. By killing people, see?

You’ll be able to play through most of the Vendettas campaign alone like the brooding lone wolf you are, but certain missions will need two or more players to play. You can always mute everyone’s mic and pretend they’re bots is you’re feeling particularly misanthropic.

Then there’s Hit List. Details are a bit fuzzy on this mode, but apparently you’ll be able to jump in at certain points of the Vendettas campaign that you’ve unlocked by playing through them, and also enjoy some new Hit List-only missions. Like we said. Fuzzy. We’ll bet our bottom dollar it involves killing people though.

If the idea of replaying content leaves you could like a New Jersey winter, Vendettas’ array of unique weapon-toting, national stereotype-reinforcing playable characters should warm you like a New York hotdog.
