FIFA 12 patch incoming, will make “big corrections”
FIFA 12 will be getting a patch in the next couple of weeks to fix issues that people are currently “exploiting” during online games.
There will be “big corrections”, according to Romily Broad, senior community manager, in reaction to issues which have been flagged up by fans playing internet matches since the game’s launch. “Two or three weeks from now the first patch will happen and make big corrections to some of the things that are bothering people,” said Broad, speaking on the FIFA 12 podcast.
One of these is the ability to control just your goalkeeper when the opposition has the ball, allowing the AI to do your defending for you. Which is something of a blessing for those who are still cack-handed when it comes to the new defending system, but hardly makes for the fairest online experience.
As Broad said: “If they’re not good at defending they can use this to get an unfair advantage. People who are good won’t have a problem. They’ll just be able to pass it around your defenders and you’ll find yourself one-on-one with their top strikers every time.”
Before this patch hits there will also be a fix put in place for those people unable to access the Ultimate Team section of the game.
Which is all good news – as is EA’s ongoing commitment to respond to fan feedback: “We’re going to be doing this constantly, with our thumbs in the middle of the community trying to get people to tell us what they think, and then we’ll be acting on it for the rest of the season.”
Now we just need a ‘cattle prod’ option for people who quit out when they’re losing and we’ll be all set. Check out our FIFA 12 review to see what we thought of the game and get a few FIFA playing tips as well.
Thanks to Eurogamer for the tip off.
